Arcata manufacturing company Wing Inflatables has grown rapidly in recent years, thanks in large part to the success of its signature product, Combat Rubber Raiding Crafts, which have proven popular with the U.S. Department of Defense. As we reported in a company profile last year, Wing nearly tripled in size between 2013 and 2015. It now employs more than 100 people, and it’s about to reach new heights.
The company was just awarded a Department of Defense contract worth more than $25 million. Here’s a press release from Congressman Jared Huffman:
Congressman Huffman (D-San Rafael) announced that Wing Inflatables, which is located in Arcata and employs more than a hundred people in the North Coast, was awarded a competitive $25,686,244 Department of Defense contract this week for the purchase of Combat Rubber Raiding Craft and hard floors in supporting Special Warfare System.
“Highly skilled manufacturing is one of the North Coast’s many assets and I’m thrilled to see the federal government investing in this innovative local company, and in their product, which is truly one of a kind,” said Rep. Huffman. “I look forward to see how WING Inflatables will continue to grow and invest in our community through this new opportunity. As they expand, I remain committed to working with their staff, the local workforce investment board, and other stakeholders to ensure they have the high skilled local workforce ready for employment.”
“Wing is excited for this next chapter of growth,” said President & CEO of Wing Inflatables, Andrew Branagh. “We are proud that our high quality has been recognized by the U.S. Navy and will remain absolutely committed to the Warfighter [sic]! I am especially appreciative of the many supporters on this journey: Congressman Huffman, State Assemblymember Wood, the City of Arcata and of course our wonderful Wing team.”
