UPDATE, 3:48 p.m.: Says the EPD’s Captain Steve Watson:

###

UPDATE, 3:15 p.m.: Sgt. Travis Braud of the Eureka Police Department says that officers are attempting to locate a boy who lives at the house, and who was not found in the search.

Braud said he doesn’t believe there is any reason for the public to be concerned about the fact that the juvenile is in the wind. As of this moment, the department seems ready to chalk this up to a kid firing a gun out the window for less-than-100-percent-smart kid reasons.

UPDATE, 2:52 p.m.: No one was found in a search of the house, says the EPD’s Brittany Powell, and no weapon was recovered. However, multiple bullet holes were found in the pole pictured above, outside a bedroom window.

There should be more information soon.

UPDATE, 2:31 p.m.: Eureka High School went on lockdown at about 2 p.m., but Powell tells us that they’re about to send over the all-clear signal.

###

At about 1:15 p.m. this afternoon, the Eureka Police Department received multiple calls about shots fired inside a residence on the 1100 block of Buhne, near the corner of L Street.

Eureka Police spokesperson Brittany Powell tells the Outpost that officers on the scene have found one bullet hole in the side of the home, and continue to investigate at the scene.

There are currently six EPD cars at the location. For nearly the last three quarters of an hour, officers have been quietly looking around the perimeter of the home. The Outpost’s Andrew Goff says that they recently knocked on the front door, but no one appears yet to have responded.

They’re still at the scene. We will update when we know more.
