Video of the “Grade Fire” shot by Friend o’ the LoCO Jon Brown this afternoon. Strong language.

Fire broke out in Siskiyou County near the town of Yreka this afternoon at about 3 p.m., and quickly grew to 100 acres. Evacuation orders are in place for Yreka and the nearby community of Hawkinsville. Highway 263, which runs from Yreka north to Highway 96, is closed.

The above video of what they’re calling the “Grade Fire” is somewhat reminiscent of the destruction of the nearby town of Weed in Siskiyou County two years ago, given the intensity of the fire and its nearness to town. Right now, 150 homes are threatened according to the latest Calfire situation report.
