Rio Dell Police Department press release: 

On 07-09-2016 at approximately 1740 hours, officers with the Rio Dell Police Department executed a probation search in the 200 block of 2nd Avenue in Rio Dell. During the search officer’s located evidence of drug sales, stolen property, ammunition, a homemade explosive device along with other materials believed to be used to manufacture homemade explosive devices. Resident David Craig Bourland (age 34) was arrested for Possession of an explosive device, possession of bomb making materials, possession of heroin for sales, possession of methamphetamine for sales, felon in possession of ammunition, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of felony probation. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) team assisted with disposal of the explosive device without incident or injury.
