Local philanthropist Betty Chinn and St. Joesph’s Program Manager for the Care Transitions Program Joy Victorine came in to KHUM to talk the new shelter their partnering to open on C Street (next to the Day Center) in Eureka next week.
Chinn bought the building back in May and renovations began in July. The first floor of the building will be for respite care for 10 homeless people discharged from St. Joesph’s. Victorine says that this will help them expand their current care transition program. The second floor will house 14 families.
The grand opening celebration for donors will be on September 16. There will be a public event on September 17 from 2 till 4 p.m. They would love for members of our community to come see what they are doing.
