Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office press release:

On Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at approximately 1400 hours, a 27 year old male inmate obtained a serious injury to his hand while working at the Sheriff’s Work Alternative Program (SWAP) woodlot, Eureka. The injury occurred while operating a large wood splitter. The inmate was transported to an out of the area hospital and is currently in stable condition.

As standard practice Cal OSHA and Humboldt County Risk Management are currently reviewing this incident.
