The National Weather Service office on Woodley Island expects three local rivers to break their banks this afternoon or tomorrow. Find, below, their forecasts for the Eel, Van Duzen and Klamath Rivers, including what, specifically, residents along the rivers may expect.

The Flood Warning continues for The Eel River At Fernbridge.

  • until Friday afternoon…or until the warning is cancelled.
  • At 8:15 AM Thursday the stage was 19.4 feet.
  • Minor flooding is forecast.
  •  Flood Stage is 20.0 feet.
  • FORECAST…This river is expected to rise above flood stage of 20.0 FT near this noon. Then forecast to rise to near 21.5 FT early tomorrow morning. Then forecast to fall below flood stage of 20.0 FT late tomorrow morning. Then forecast to fall below monitor stage of 14.0 FT early Saturday morning.
  • IMPACTS…At 22.0 feet…The western half of the Eel Delta may be completely flooded, especially if at or above this level for an extended period of time. This includes areas northwest of Loleta and the western portion of Cannibal Island Road.

Flood Warning for the Van Duzen River Near Bridgeville.

  • from this afternoon to this evening…or until the warning is cancelled.
  • At 8:15 AM Thursday the stage was 11.3 feet.
  • Minor flooding is forecast. * Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
  • FORECAST…This river is forecast to rise above monitor stage of 13.0 FT late this morning. Then expected to rise above flood stage of 17.0 FT near this noon. Then forecast to crest near 17.0 FT this afternoon. Then forecast to fall below flood stage of 17.0 FT this afternoon.
  • IMPACTS…At 17.0 feet…Flooding will begin in lower portions of Grizzly Creek County Park and along River Bar Road.
The Flood Warning continues for the Klamath River near Klamath.

  • At 8:30 AM Thursday the stage was 34.3 feet. * Minor flooding is forecast. * Flood Stage is 38.0 feet.
  • This river is expected to rise above flood stage of 38.0 FT late this evening. Then forecast to crest near 39.0 FT early tomorrow morning. Then forecast to fall below flood stage of 38.0 FT tomorrow morning. Then forecast to fall below monitor stage of 30.0 FT late Saturday morning. Then forecast to recede to near 24.0 FT late Sunday morning.
  • IMPACTS…At 40.0 feet…Flooding may occur on Highway 101 near Requa Rd, the access road to Klamath Glen, and adjacent low lying secondary roads near the delta. Flooding will be amplified if coincident with high tides and strong, onshore winds.
