UPDATE, 5:25 p.m.: Well, we’re going to have to backtrack, here.

Law enforcement personnel on the scene seem, at the moment, unable to determine whether or not the blue Toyota Tacoma pickup, pictured below, is, in fact, the vehicle reported carjacked at Bear River Casino earlier this afternoon. However, while the investigation was proceeding, officers discovered another stolen pickup parked in the Little Red Lion’s parking lot.

Another man, who had been in the bar, has been detained. He is telling police that he purchased the truck, but has no paperwork to prove it. Sgt. Greg Allen of the Sheriff’s Office tells the Outpost that the truck has been reported stolen out of McKinleyville.

The title of this story has been changed to reflect the uncertain nature of this incident, as it stands. Stay tuned.

One woman has been detained in downtown Eureka, after the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and the California Highway Patrol quickly recovered a truck that had been carjacked near the Bear River Casino this afternoon.

Kym Kemp, over at the Redheaded Blackbelt, heard the call come in to the Sheriff’s Office an hour or so ago. At that time, officers received reports that a woman had been forced out of her vehicle and assaulted, before a woman took her pickup and fled. Another person — a man — left in a different vehicle.

Police caught up with the suspect and the stolen pickup at the Little Red Lion Bar, on Fifth Street in Eureka. Officer Matt Harvey of the California Highway Patrol, on scene, confirms to the Outpost’s Andrew Goff that there may be additional suspects outstanding.

Police continue to investigate. There are six law enforcement vehicles — HCSO and CHP — still on scene at the Little Red Lion,
