AT&T has confirmed that its mass telecommunications outage last night was caused by a break to its single fiber-optic line. Service was restored just after 10:30 p.m.

We received the following from AT&T spokesperson Steven Ramirez last night at 10:47 p.m.:

Due to a fiber cut, a limited number of customers in the Arcata and Garberville areas may be experiencing issues with their wireless and wireline services. 911 service was not impacted by this outage. Technicians are on site and working as quickly as possible to resolve the issue.
