After a lot of hard work, the City of Eureka has upgraded the recreation area near Del Norte Pier in Eureka into a fully functioning playground and dog park.

Today Community Services Director Miles Slattery gave the Outpost a tour of The Eureka Del Norte Street Pier Park, or “Shark Park” as Slattery prefers to call it, to show off all the new improvements. The park is now home to new bathrooms, drinking fountains, and a brand new inclusive playground, meaning a playground accessible to children with disabilities.

The official ribbon cutting ceremony will be held Tuesday August 28 at 12 noon. But the park is already open and available for use.
