Coastal Humboldt dwellers who want to remember what summer feels like for most of the rest of the country should note that ludicrously hot weather — temperatures upwards of 100 degrees! — will be scorching NorCal’s interior this weekend.

That is not necessarily a recommendation. According to our friends at the Eureka branch of the National Weather service the heat “will result in an elevated risk of heat illness, especially for those persons lacking effective cooling and adequate hydration. Drink plenty of fluids while outdoors. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, and never leave children or pets behind in a closed vehicle.”

Be wise, summer fans. But do what though wilt.
