Amber was born May 4, 1976 in Eureka, CA to her proud parents David (deceased) and Marilyn Zeller. Amber died peacefully in her sleep due to cardiac arrest on May 22, 2018 at home in Myrtle Creek, Oregon.

Her lifelong love of horses started with her Shetland pony when she was 3 years old. At 12 years of age her first Arabian horse, Ellie, came into her life. Six years later, the same month she graduated from Eureka High School, she headed to Tucson, Arizona for the Apprenticeship Program at Al Marah’s Arabian Ranch where she received her certificate from the State of Arizona. The next few years she enjoyed working many Arabian Horse Shows. When she decided to move back to Eureka, the Chauncey’s family (who she loved working for) gifted her Sherman, her beloved Arabian horse who she admired as a foal. Sherman brought her great joy and they were the best of friends throughout her entire adult life.

Amber Dawn left behind her much-loved family who are devastated that they didn’t get more time with her here on earth – but they all look forward to being reunited in heaven. Her mother, Marilyn Mae; her brother Michael David of Phoenix and his wife Sheryl Lynn, Amber’s niece Sloane Mackenzie and nephew Brock David; her sissy Amy Danielle of Walnut Creek; her brother Aaron David of Eureka and Amber’s nephews Cole David and Wyatt Samuel; and Dolores Stubblefield, her 92-year-old grandmother of whom she was very proud. Amber also left behind many aunts, uncles and cousins who greatly enriched her life. Also dear to Amber were her “fur babies”: Sherman (horse), Boomer (horse), Annie (dog), Taz - short for Tazmanian Devil (kitty), and Sissy (kitty).

She graduated from College of the Redwoods while working for a few of her favorite local businesses and making many lifelong friends. Her last job in Eureka was at the Eureka VA Clinic. She moved up to Myrtle Creek, Oregon in the fall of 2016 when she was transferred to the Roseburg, Oregon VA Clinic. The friends she made in Oregon were very dear to her and her family will always be grateful for the love that was shown to her.

Our family also appreciates her many lifelong friends she’s made along her many adventures. The outpouring of love, stories, laughter and tears are very comforting; it feels good to know that people loved our Amber and “got her,” just as we did.

A graveside service and reception will be held on be Friday, July 27 at 3 p.m. The graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park, 3975 Broadway Street, Eureka. Immediately following the service, the reception will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 220 Buhne Street, Eureka. All who knew and loved Amber are welcome.
