From the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:
On May 20, 2018, at about 4 a.m., a Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputy was conducting a routine patrol of Pennsylvania Ave., in the county jurisdiction of Eureka, when the deputy observed a suspicious vehicle parked in front of a residence on the 2300 block of Jersey Ave.
Upon further investigation, the deputy learned that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Eureka. The Eureka Police Department was called to assist. As patrol units from the Eureka Police arrived on scene, the deputy observed a subject enter the passenger side of the stolen vehicle. The deputy initiated a stop on the vehicle, detaining the passenger and the driver, 26-year-old Ashlynn Mae Owens.
Deputies learned that Owens was on probation with a search clause for theft-related offenses. Owens was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and violation of probation.
The passenger was released at the scene.
