A McKinleyville woman sits in an Ohio jail after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers found 510 pounds of vacuum-sealed marijuana in her moving truck.
Keryl J. Lopez, age 48, of McKinleyville, was pulled over on the Ohio Turnpike in Cuyahoga County while driving a 2018 Penske truck with Indiana registration after troopers say they observed her traveling at excessive speeds and making marked lane violations. According to OSHP, a drug-sniffing dog alerted troopers who then searched the vehicle and found the stash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol valued the marijuana at approximately $1.3 million.
Lopez is currently incarcerated in the Strongsville City Jail. She is charged with possession and trafficking in marijuana, both first-degree felonies that, if she’s convicted, could result in 22 years in prison and a $40,000 fine.
