The Humboldt County Environmental Health division today issued a shutdown order to Raliberto’s taco shop, the newish San Diego-style takeout Mexican place on Eureka’s Fourth Street.

The order, which came after an inspection this morning, cited evidence of an infestation of German cockroaches.

According to the report of that investigation — linked below — inspectors visited the restaurant on Oct. 9, after receiving a complaint. They ordered management of the restaurant to hire an exterminator to take care of the problem.

However, this morning’s follow-up investigation showed “no evidence of pest control services” subsequent to that date, and roaches “in various life stages both alive and dead throughout the kitchen.”

Prior to reopening, Raliberto’s must show the Environmental Health division must contract with pest control services and eradicate the infestation, show evidence of this to inspectors, sanitize their equipment and repair various cracks and crevices that might let the little critters in.
