Convicted sexual predator Joshua Cooley will not be placed in a home on Alderpoint Road after all. Judge John Feeney announced his decision during a hearing inside a Board of Supervisors chambers packed with about 50 concerned community members.
Feeney indicated that he would instead place Cooley in Eureka motels on a rotating basis. Another hearing scheduled for May 3 at 8:30 a.m. to make sure that the motels in question are still on board. The list of motels will remain confidential, but the Humboldt County District Attorney will get to review them.
