Chelsea Anne Lawrence was born on September 29, 1993 in Eureka. She passed away on March 22, 2019 at her home in Briceland.
Chelsea grew up in Eureka and attended Cutten Ridgewood Elementary and Pacific View Charter School. She moved to Eugene, Oregon with her mother and brother in 2006 where she attended Network Charter School followed by Opportunity Center and graduated from high school several months ahead of her class. Chelsea also took classes at Lane Community College before she returned to California at the end of 2012.
Chelsea loved animals and had a special affinity for them. We all have so many stories about Chelsea and her animals, like when she snuck the cat into the bathtub and came out with him wrapped in a towel with not a scratch on her, or when she secretly took her duck to school in a backpack for show and tell, and the time we found her holding the brand new puppies of a not so friendly mama bulldog with mama just watching intently, and the sweet newborn fawn she saved from the side of Briceland-Thorn Road when it’s mother was hit by a car, bottling feeding and keeping the baby doe alive for months until it could go off on its own.
Chelsea was a gifted artist who had a natural talent for many art forms including ceramics, photography, writing, painting, decorating and design, makeup and fashion. She had so much talent, she could pick anything up and be good at it. She just had that natural ability.
Chelsea always spoke her mind — no matter how rude or blunt — she always told the truth. She had such a fire inside. She was so feisty, sassy and outspoken. Chelsea would fight anyone, anywhere, anytime if it was important enough to her. She was a fighter, but she had another side to her, a caring and compassionate side that she only showed certain people. Chelsea was fiercely loyal to those she cared about. She loved her friends to death and would die for any one of them. That’s just who she was. I don’t like saying “she was a good friend” because that’s boring and cliché but she WAS. She cared about her friends so deeply.
Chelsea is survived by her mother Suzanne Woolbert, father Bill Lawrence (Charity Punch), brother William Lawrence, sister in love Jessica Maine, and by her partner Jeromy Fox Dillon. Chelsea is also survived by her grandmothers, Cherri Stockton Woolbert and Lynn Silva Lawrence, her great-grandmother Vera Stockton, her Aunties Shannon Woolbert Sullivan, Barbara Lawrence Johnson (CJ), Anna Lawrence Garlick (Jason), and Sara Lawrence Bank (Mike), Great Aunts Robin Gerrick (Bob) and Heather Smith (Barry), Uncles Jamey Sullivan, Jeff Brazil, and Joe Lawrence (Cindy). Chelsea leaves behind many cousins, Andrea Porter, Janie Smith, Serrina Dunkle-Smith, Alora Sullivan, Chester Brazil, Katelyn Johnson, Ashley Johnson, Devon Garlick, Luke Garlick, and Joe Bank and a huge number of second cousins. She is also survived by her many, many close friends and loved ones in Humboldt County and in Eugene, Oregon. Chelsea was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Jim Woolbert and Charlie Lawrence.
Chelsea Anne, we love you more than words can express. Goodbye, my sweet baby girl. We will never stop missing you.
