A broken valve caused a tower of water shoot up over a Eureka neighborhood at 11:15 a.m. today.

Public Works Deputy Director Brian Issa told the Outpost that the burst of water was caused by an old corporation stop valve leading to a home on the 3400 block of E Street.

“The corporation stop blew off,” Issa said. “It happens.”

The city has since stopped the leak and replaced the broken valve.
