After splitting a pair of games on the road this past weekend, the Humboldt State men’s basketball team has dropped one spot to 10th in this week’s D2SIDA West Region Poll.
The Jacks fell at No. 4 Cal State East Bay on Thursday before responding two days later with a win at Cal State Monterey Bay, and are now 8-4 and alone in third in the California Collegiate Athletic Association standings.
The Jacks, who are 14-6 overall and a perfect 9-0 at home, return to Lumberjack Arena this week to host a pair of conference games, including a Saturday showdown with UC San Diego, the No. 15 team in the nation.
“Splitting on the road and staying unbeaten at home seems to be the formula to stay in the top 10 in the West Region,” HSU head coach Steve Kinder said. “With six out of our last 10 at home, we have an opportunity to compete through February and position ourselves for March.”
San Diego is 10-1 in conference play and 15-3 overall, but is only 4-2 in true road games.
The Jacks also play Cal State San Marcos on Thursday.
Both games will be played as part of a doubleheader with the women’s team, with the action getting way at 5:30 p.m. on each night.
