Press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

On June 7, 2019, at about 3:06 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Thomas Drive and Redwood Drive in Garberville for the report of a physical altercation between two subjects.

When deputies arrived on scene, they located a male subject physically detaining a female subject and were informed that the male subject had performed a citizen’s arrest for vehicle theft.

Upon further investigation, deputies learned that the male subject had parked his vehicle near Thomas Drive and Redwood Drive, and exited, leaving the vehicle running, to momentarily adjust a sign for his business nearby. According to the subject, while returning to his vehicle, he observed the vehicle begin to drive forward. The subject ran after his vehicle, grabbing onto the driver, 36-year-old Amber Rose Demarco, through an open window. Demarco then reportedly stopped the vehicle, at which time the subject physically removed Demarco from the vehicle and detained her on the ground nearby until law enforcement arrived.

Demarco was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of vehicle theft and violation of probation.
