Press release from the City of Eureka:
The City of Eureka and the Ink People Center for the Arts announce that applications are now being accepted for the Inaugural Poet Laureate of Eureka. The Eureka Poet Laureate Program will play a vital role in enriching the story of Eureka by inviting local poets to express their perspectives on living in the City of Eureka. The Poet Laureate program has two divisions, a youth poet and an adult poet, open to any who live within Eureka or 1 mile of Eureka and/or have art studios in Eureka.
The poet laureates will act as poetry ambassadors to the City of Eureka, writing and sharing poems during the year. The adult poet laureate will also conduct a project related to poetry within the community. The winning poets will be awarded a cash honorarium and will have either poetry broadsides or a chapbook printed at The Old Town Ink Lab.
Applications for this year are due by July 1, 2019.
