The Fortuna Fire Protection District will be taking delivery of a new Pierce 100’
aerial truck. The truck was ordered a little over a year ago and has a price of $1,178,000. By paying
for the truck up front, the Fire District saved the taxpayers of the Fortuna Fire Protection District
$69,000.
The new truck replaces a 30-year-old KME 100’ aerial that the district purchased used many years
ago. The old truck has found a new home at Santa Rosa Junior College and will be part of their Fire
Science Program.
The new truck was spec’d by a committee of six Fortuna Fire volunteers and Chief Officers and a
final review was made by the Fire District Commissioners.
The new truck is setup for Fortuna Fire specifications and will be in service for the next 30 years.
The Fortuna Fire District is governed by a five person Board of Commissioners:
Chairman – David Nicholson
Vice Chairman – Robert Johnson
Member – Kent Johnson, Jr.
Member – David Morris
Member – Melvin Berti
The Fortuna Fire District is very proud of this purchase and urges the community to stop by the
main station at 320 S. Fortuna Blvd. to check it out.
An open house will be held as soon as all the
equipment has been transferred from the old truck to the new one and it is put into service.
The Fortuna Fire District is debt free and is grateful the trust the taxpayers/community shows them.
