A strong storm is about to let it go all over areas of Humboldt, Trinity and Del Norte Counties this week.

Eureka’s National Weather Service office reports that rain and mountain snow are forecast for the area starting Tuesday.

Three to four inches of snow is forecast for Berry Summit, while higher-elevation areas of Trinity County are expected to receive between 8 and 18 inches of snow.

Drivers taking Highways 36, 299 or 199 should should have snow chains handy.

Coastal areas, meanwhile, can expect lots of rain and wind gusts between 7 and 23 mph.

Weather conditions are expected to diminish by Wednesday evening.
