Humboldt is forecast to see some monster waves this week.

Eureka’s National Weather Service office reports that the first major swell of the fall will bring 16 to 20-foot waves to the North Coast’s west-northwest facing beaches.

The large swells are expected to arrive this evening and last until Friday, with the largest waves expected on Thursday.

Some light rain is also possible, but meteorologists don’t expect the coast to see winds stronger than 5 mph, so wave quality should be at optimal gnar-nage.

This also means that the jetties and beaches will be especially dangerous, so use good judgement if you absolutely have to go to the beach this week. And as always, shred the gnar, brah.
