A pair of DBs each made a spectacular play in the end zone for their respective teams in the Milk Can game at Fortuna on Friday night.
Fortuna’s Levi Nyberg and Ferndale’s Lane Branstetter, who each also scored touchdowns in the game, both made diving attempts at an interception, one coming away the ball and the other barely missing out.
Regardless of the outcome, both were highlight moments in what was an entertaining Milk Can, which Ferndale won 13-7.
Nyberg came away with the ball for Fortuna at a crucial time of the game late in the fourth quarter just as the Wildcats were threatening to put two touchdowns between the teams.
He cut inside Ferndale receiver Landon Gomes to snag the ball and deny a TD on what was a fantastic effort to give his team a much-needed lift.
Branstetter wasn’t quite so lucky, being adjudged to have trapped the ball, although it appeared a close call.
But that doesn’t take from what was a brilliant effort by the Ferndale player, and a moment that epitomized his team’s fighting spirit all night.
