Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office press release:
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office has partnered with the California National Guard for operation “Green Wave.” Green Wave is a yearly enforcement effort including California Department of Fish and Wildlife, US Forest Service, CalCannabis, and the California Water Resource Control Board. The involved agencies collaborate to address environmental damage from illegal marijuana cultivation.
On day one (09-17-19) of the operation the teams served a search warrant on an unpermitted marijuana cultivation site in the Burr Valley area off Highway 36. During the service of the warrant, Zeb Giacomini (42 years old) was located on site tending the grow. Giacomini had a permitted cultivation operation on his property (next door), but appeared to have expanded his operation onto the neighboring property. Officers located 1442 out door marijuana plants, 50 pounds of processed bud, 5 rifles, and 2 handguns. Two of the rifles had been modified to be fully automatic. Giacomini was taken into custody and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. Numerous stream violations, stream pollution and illegal grading issues were found on the site.
Giacomini was booked on the charges of felony cultivation of marijuana, and possession of marijuana for sales. Additional charges are pending.
