From the Office of State Sen. Mike McGuire:

Late last week, Senator Mike McGuire was appointed to a criticallyimportant bipartisan committee tasked with reviewing the state’s response to the coronavirus health crisis – what has gone right and what could be improved. The committee will make findings and recommendations for future preparedness – as the coronavirus is expected to be with us in the months to come – and will prepare for subsequent pandemics.

“California has been on the forefront of this crisis, taking the most early and decisive action in America to slow the spread of the virus. That said, we know we can always do better, which is why this bipartisan special committee is so important. We’ll be focused on what’s gone right, but most importantly, where we can improve our response and how we can better prepare ourselves in the months to come. The coronavirus will be with us for quite some time and it’s up to all of us to take stock on where we’re at now and how we can improve moving forward,” Senator Mike McGuire said. “I’m grateful to Senate President Atkins for the appointment.”

Senator McGuire’s role on this special committee is in addition to his important work as co-chair of a Senate wildfire policy working group on energy and insurance stability. The group’s work is focused on power shutoffs, stabilizing home insurance policies and better preparing communities for mega wildfires. This working group will be making policy recommendations in the coming weeks.
