Press release from the City of Eureka:

The City of Eureka, in partnership with the County of Humboldt, is excited to be hosting a Climate Action Plan Public Workshop on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Wharfinger Building on Marina Way.

Local governments in Humboldt County are working together to develop a Regional Climate Action Plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout the county. As part of this effort, the City of Eureka is developing solutions to address Eureka’s carbon footprint. Workshop participants will have a chance to weigh in on Climate Action Plan strategies and policies which could improve bus ridership, promote bicycle use and incentivize energy efficient construction in efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The workshop begins with a presentation highlighting current emissions levels. Following the presentation, the public has an opportunity to participate in an open-house community workshop and circulate between several stations to learn about Climate Action Plan strategies and provide input. The City is looking for ideas on how we can work together to address local climate impacts, and we want to hear from the public!

The Climate Action Plan Workshop will take place on Wednesday, January 15, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Wharfinger Building, located at 1 Marina Way in Eureka. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and the presentation begins at 5:30.
