She said short and sweet, so here you go Mom!
Jean was born in Galena, Kansas to William Harrison Feagan and Vera Messer. She was child number four behind Bernard, Viron, Jeanetta, and ahead of Bonnie Jean. She graduated from Galena High School with honors in 1942. She received a college scholarship, but due to WWII and her family’s economic situation, she went to work for the War Department in Washington D.C., and later in New York City. What an adventure for a small town Kansas girl!
She married Donald W. King after he returned from WWII on December 21, 1945. She leaves behind Gale King (Debi), grandchildren Matthew King (Jamie), Lacie King, and Gabriel King, and one great-grandchild, Sophia King. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald King, her son Donald Duane King, and her grandson, Kellen King. She completed college at age 40 and became a teacher, which was her dream job. She loved books. She said if you had a book, you always had a friend. To know my mom was to love her. Until we meet again, With love, your family.
