- BREAKING: Northern Humboldt Union High School District Closes Schools Next Week ‘Out of Preponderance of Caution’
UPDATE, 3:15 p.m.: The Humboldt County Office of Education has published an updating spreadsheet of school closures in Humboldt County. You can find it here.
At the moment, basically everything in the county is closed with the notable exception of Eureka City Schools, which are still listed as open.\
From Trinidad Union Superintendent Katie Cavanagh:
In recognition of the COVID-19 pandemic and after thoughtful consideration for our community the District has determined that it is necessary to close our school for this coming week, March 16-20. This decision was made so that we are better able to ensure continuous and ongoing education for children while maintaining a safe environment for our students and faculty. This is an opportunity for you as families to communicate with your children and will be a time for our staff to prepare as we evaluate this very fluid situation. We will be developing a strategy for the best possible continuity of learning, and is done as a precaution as we do not have a confirmed case of COVID-19 in our District.
We know that our school is the heart of our community, and we are fortunate for that. We feel it is our obligation to support the well-being and safety of all those associated with Trinidad School.
You can expect an update on Tuesday afternoon and more information from me by Friday to address the following week as we will constantly be re-evaluating and planning.
