Press release from the Redwood Region Economic Development Commission:

Passenger air service from the California Redwood Coast-Humboldt County Airport (ACV) will be significantly reduced in response to the the COVID-19 pandemic.

Starting April 1, 2020, flights to Denver International Airport will be suspended for a minimum of two months. In addition, service to San Francisco International Airport will be reduced to two departures per day. Los Angeles International Airport departures will be reduced to one per day. This new schedule is subject to change as conditions warrant.

“These are challenging times for the airport and aviation in general,” said Cody Roggatz, Director of the Humboldt County Department of Aviation. “We are working closely with our partners to ensure that we continue to provide vital services and protect the flying public.”

The aviation industry is under great stress as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Airlines have made major cuts to service as a response. All major airlines have announced capacity reductions. According to Volaire Aviation, a national air service consulting firm. North American airlines have now removed 43% of seats from their schedules. International carriers have made much more significant cuts, removing more than 80% of capacity as measured in seats.

“The situation is very fluid and I would not be surprised to see further changes as time passes, said Gregg Foster, Executive Director of the Redwood Region Economic Development Commission. “We encourage anyone who has a booked flight or who is planning a flight to check regularly with their carrier for updates.”

Updated information will be posted on flyhumboldt.org as it becomes available. Passengers should also regularly check United Airlines website at united.com.
