Press release from the Hoopa Valley Tribe:
The Tsewenaldin Inn is preparing to welcome guests once again following major renovations and numerous improvements to the property, with a tentative soft opening scheduled for Friday, November 6, 2026. Under the leadership of Manager Kathleen Scott, the Inn is looking toward a promising future with a renewed focus on hospitality, community pride, and creating a welcoming experience for visitors to the Hoopa Valley.
The renovations and improvements represent an important step toward revitalizing the Inn and enhancing the overall guest experience. These upgrades aim to provide visitors with more comfortable accommodations while creating an inviting atmosphere that reflects the beauty and character of the Hoopa Valley. The improvements also demonstrate a continued commitment to strengthening local hospitality and supporting future tourism opportunities within the community.
Scott’s vision for the Tsewenaldin Inn centers on three important values: beauty, pride, and hope. She hopes to create an environment that reflects the natural beauty of the Hoopa Valley while giving Tribal members a sense of pride in the accommodations and hospitality offered to visitors.
“The vision I have for the Tsewenaldin Inn is one of beauty, pride and hope,” said Scott. “Hoopa is a beautiful place to live and visit. I want the motel to reflect that. I want every Tribal member to feel a sense of pride that the guests here are treated to a comfortable stay.”
Beyond providing accommodations, Scott hopes the Inn will contribute to Hoopa’s future as a welcoming destination where visitors can experience the community’s natural surroundings and learn more about its cultural heritage.
Her long-term goal is to help establish Hoopa as a place where visitors feel safe, welcomed, and encouraged to return. She also hopes guests will gain a greater appreciation for the Hupa people’s traditions, cultural knowledge, and connections to spiritual and herbal medicine.
“Come get to know us. We are a welcoming people, full of tradition,” Scott shared.
Supporting this vision is a dedicated team that includes Assistant Manager Quiloeh Bigovich, Head of Security Dana Chisum, and Housekeepers Malia Mosier and Al Kinney Dean. Together, the staff is committed to providing a welcoming and comfortable experience for guests.
With a tentative reopening date of November 6, the Tsewenaldin Inn represents an opportunity to strengthen local hospitality, encourage tourism, and showcase the unique beauty and cultural richness of the Hoopa Valley. The renovations and improvements mark a new chapter for the Inn as it prepares to serve both returning and first-time visitors.
As preparations continue, the Tsewenaldin Inn looks forward to welcoming guests into its improved facilities and building a positive future rooted in community pride, hospitality, and the traditions of the Hupa people.
