Good news, the Mattole River is now flowing at over 3.5 cubic feet per second which is substantial enough for people to start pumping water for their home use again. 8:31 a.m.: compared to the grand sceme of the dripping shades of green unfurling in the endless forest around them, they emerge from the undergrowth no bigger than an afterthought and stretch to be no larger than an eyelash. you and i would never notice them, unless we lay gingerly on our bellies amongst the ferns with chins digging into the saturated earth, breathing slow to see them grow when we blink. and you know what my favorite thing is? not the color, though it is ferociously vivid, not the scale, though it is enchantingly minuscule. it is that they are all connected. unbeknowest or not to them or us, they link their roots together beneath the vastness of the hidden soil carpeted in memories of grandfather trees that are unthinkable giants to their brief existance, and with a kiss of rain they rise together as one to embrace the sunlight that dances down like a promise from the sky. that is their journey. its our journey, too 🌲🍄🌿 #rainfall #humboldtcounty #northerncalifornia #lessonsfromamushroom #adventuresinfairyland
