1:49 p.m.: The Lost Coast trail has three stretches that are impassable during high tide. Chest-high waves that wash over the trail and crash into the coastal bluffs. Our detour took us above and around the impassable zone but it required descending down this steep ravine - a challenging task with our fat bikes and gear. At one point my bike slipped from my hand and tumbled down about 50ft.
