See Event Description

Attention all history and maritime enthusiasts! The Clarke invites you to an exclusive members-only preview evening of our brand-new exhibits! Get ready to be immersed in the fascinating world of Humboldt Bay’s rich history and its role in shaping the community we know today. Topics surrounding Wigi (the Wiyot name for Humboldt Bay) include the fishing and whaling industry, local lighthouses, shipwrecks, and much more! The event date is May 05th, 2023, and will be from 5 pm to 7 pm.
As a museum member, you can attend this event free of charge! Nealis Hall will feature outstanding new exhibits on Ecological Management, Nellie McGraw, and 1900-1940 Baskets from the Hover Collection and Albert and Vivien Hailstone Collection. Not only will you have the first glimpse of new exhibits, but you will also have the chance to interact with some of the most distinguished figures in local maritime history.
Our guest speaker panel includes local legends Leroy and Daleen Zerlang of Zerlang & Zerlang Boat Company (owners of the Madaket), renowned historian Ray Hillman, author Andy Westfall, and former harbor commissioner and author Dennis Hunter. Each will bring their unique perspective and firsthand experiences to share with you.
