Wepeel, Teach Me Equals
We could not be more excited about this show!
Wepeel is Humboldt’s beloved Weezer tribute band, performing songs from their early catalog. Active for over 13 years, Wepeel usually plays only once a year, but could not turn down the opportunity to play with such an incredible band.
That band is Teach Me Equals, a duo comprised of Greg Bortnichak and Erin Murphy. They play guitar, cello, violin and keyboards over homegrown samples created through effects pedals, noises and old metronomes. While the group’s unique approach defies conventional labels, “orchestral indie pop” might give you an idea of where they’re coming from. The band played two shows here in early September, gaining many fans, one referring to their performance as a “religious experience.” They have recently released their debut album “Knives in the Hope Chest” and tour constantly, playing over 200 shows a year.
