Local Rockers The Critics Discuss Their New Album on KSLG

Aviator album cover

KSLG’s afternoon host Rhi Marie met with Humboldt’s very own independent alt rock band The Critics. In the group they have Sergio Ramirez the band’s lyricist, who not only sings but plays guitar as well, there’s Josh Fuller who also plays guitar and is the band’s mixing engineer, his brother Ethan Fuller rocking on drums and of course their bassist Aaron Soli.

Listen as she dives deeper into their world and learn how the band got their start. In this interview get to know their initial inspirations, navigating their sound as young musicians and the road to releasing a second album. Learn about how the band stays connected and what inspired them the most to continue making music together.

We learn about what inspired the band to create Aviator and the guys tell listeners the inspiration behind their new project is about being in that “really uncomfortable state in life, where you’re young for so long and things don’t matter, then all of a sudden you’re not so young anymore and coming to that realization that you cannot do nothing anymore.” The Critics share fun facts and background about each song. Together they have a mini album listening party where Rhi Marie picks her favorite tracks and listeners hear music from the album for the very first time live on air!

Check them out live at their upcoming album release party November 29th at The Wild Hare Tavern in Arcata.

“a true band of brothers that wants nothing more than to succeed as a collective”
