Stuck in Willow Creek, trying to get to Redding without a car?
Well, Highway 299 is out of commission until next month, but thanks to a temporary arrangement between the Redwood Transit System and Trinity Transit, for a cool $23 you can take buses from here to there via Peanut, Hayfork and Douglas City.

Normal bus service to and from Redding is canceled due to the closure of Highway 299 to through-traffic west of Big Bar. Service is expected to resume during the week of January 8, 2017.
In the meantime, Redwood Transit System and Trinity Transit are offering contingency bus service from Willow Creek, Arcata, and Fortuna to Redding via Highway 36. This temporary bus service will only be offered on Tuesday, December 20; Thursday, December 22; Thursday, December 29, Tuesday, January 3; and Thursday, January 5. This schedule will be maintained only while Highway 299 is closed to through-traffic.
The bus schedule from Willow Creek to Redding is as follows: Leave Willow Creek at 9:35 a.m. to Arcata; Leave Arcata (RTS Southbound Schedule #20) at 10:39 a.m. to 11th and N Streets in Fortuna; Leave Fortuna at 12:30 p.m. to Douglas City; Transfer in Douglas City; and Arrive in Redding at approximately 5 p.m.
Westbound service from Redding to Fortuna will be offered on the dates listed above and will follow this schedule: Leave Redding RABA Transit Center at 7:30 a.m.; Arrive in Fortuna at approximately 12:00 p.m. Redwood Transit System’s northbound bus leaves Fortuna at 12:43 p.m. and arrives in Arcata at 1:34 p.m.
RTS fares are $3.00 between Arcata and Fortuna and $20.00 on Trinity Transit between Fortuna and Redding. Riders must have correct change.
