Original Post: Myrtle Avenue lit up with flashing blue and reds last night at around midnight, after a man fled on foot from a Eureka Police Department traffic stop.
Another person — Shad Sovereign — was arrested during the same incident, according to EPD spokesperson Brittany Powell. He was booked on charges of being a felon in possession of a handgun, and is the person referenced in a tweet this morning from EPD Chief Andy Mills.

KHUM’s Bayley Brown, who happened by the scene last night, tells the Outpost that numerous police units set up a perimeter near the corner of Myrtle and Hill to search for the man who had been pulled over along with Sovereign, but who took off running down a nearby alley. A K-9 unit was called to the scene, but an exhaustive search failed to yield the suspect.
Powell said that the EPD will release more information on the incident later this morning.
