UPDATE, 8:25 p.m.:
We’re still waiting for an official word from authorities, but a resident who lives a block away from the incident tells the Outpost that at 6:49 p.m. she heard four or five gunshots followed by officers shouting, “Get down! Get the fuck down!”
“I just moved from west Oakland to here and I’m pretty used to those sounds,” she said.

UPDATE, 7:58 p.m.:
A Shell station employee tells the Outpost that earlier this evening a man came into the station’s convenience store carrying a stick and a cane and acting strangely. He wandered the aisles, walked outside and back in and finally bought an alcoholic beverage, which he took outside and began to drink, still on the property.
The employee told the man to move on but he refused, and so the employee called the police. When they arrived, the employee said, the man refused to comply with officer instructions and charged toward them with his stick and cane, at which point shots were fired.
More info to come.
