PREVIOUSLY: Shots Fired During Fight Between Two Women in Orick RV Park; One Arrested For Attempted Homicide

An Orick woman suspected of firing multiple shots at another woman during a dispute at the Orick RV Park was arraigned today on a charge of attempted murder.

Visiting Judge Robert Crone set Elisha Ann Wilson’s bail at $500,000 and denied her request for a supervised release from Humboldt County Correctional Facility. Her preliminary hearing was scheduled for Aug. 22. Deputy Public Defender Megan O’Connell entered not guilty pleas on Wilson’s behalf.

Wilson, who was arraigned Wednesday on an unrelated charge of battery, wept after she was advised of the new allegations against her. In addition to attempted murder, she is accused of assault with a firearm and using a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Wilson was arrested Sunday evening after the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department received a report that two women were in a physical fight at the Orick RV Park. A second caller reported one of the women had fired shots.

Sheriff’s deputies, along with state park rangers and California Highway Patrol officers, set up a perimeter and eventually detained both women.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, it was determined Wilson had fired numerous rounds from a pistol at the other woman. None of the bullets struck her.

Wilson reportedly was treated at a hospital for self-inflicted injuries before being booked into jail. She had no visible injuries during her court appearance this afternoon.

Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer represented the prosecution today.
