Judy Dickey, born April 11, 1938 in Santa Monica, died in Eureka on June 10, 2017 due to cancer.
Mom graduated in 1955 from Santa Cruz High School and enjoyed staying in touch with friends, most recently attending her 60th reunion. She moved to Humboldt County in 1963, enjoying secretarial positions at Ferndale High School, Simpson Timber Company and General Hospital. She was a member of Redwood Empire Quilters Guild, Red Hat Bonnets and the Humboldt Kitchennaire Kazoo Band, entertaining schools and care homes. Mom loved to read, piece quilts and travel to places like Mexico, Hawaii and to China in 2005.
Preceded in death by her parents, both brothers and her husband Daryl Dickey. She is survived and lovingly supported by daughters Melinda (Allen) Swank of Fortuna and Pam (Gary) Mather of McKinleyville; also Cathy Werling of Austin, Tex.; son Greg; stepson Ross; grandchildren, nieces/nephews, brother-in-law and wife Mike and Jacque Dickey, sister-in-law Reiko Duba, father of her children Bob Haynes of Olympia, Wash. and her beloved dog, Neka.
