Caltrans continues work on stabilizing the beleaguered section of Highway 101 just south of Crescent City commonly known as Last Chance Grade. Currently, Caltrans estimates that motorists making the north/south Humboldt/Del Norte trek should expect 25 minute delays while crews attempt to make the route usable for as long as possible. 

Fears that the highly trafficked, tourist-bringing section of Highway 101 are one bad storm away from drifting into the Pacific have ramped up in recent months. A couple weeks ago a significant chunk of roadway gave way. How fragile is the route? Check out the vertical video below recorded by an orange warrior in which the mountainside submits to gravity.
