If you were rudely awoken by sirens in Eureka this morning, or saw a slew of police cars parked outside of Target, and thought “Oh my gosh! What’s the emergency?” Not to worry. It was just the annual “Shop With a Cop” event, when local police officers buy Christmas presents for disadvantaged kids.
Over 40 children participated this year, each given a $110 gift certificate to Target. After enjoying a McDonalds breakfast served at the Sequoia Conference center, the little ones piled into police cars which slowly and loudly made their way to the Target.
Officers from Eureka Police Department, California Highway Patrol and Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office took part in the festivities. HSCO even posted a fun video on their Facebook Page.
