The local National Weather service office reports that Eureka crushed its previous heat record for today’s date.

“The high temperature at the office here on Woodley Island has climbed to 78 degrees as of 1 p.m. today,” the NWS wrote on Twitter. “This will shatter the previous daily record for Eureka of 73 degrees set in 1971.”
