Sometimes you shred the gnar, sometimes the gnar shreds you.
An unknown surfer dared to ride the 15 to 18-foot waves that were breaking in the Humboldt Bay entrance channel yesterday.
Eureka’s National Weather Service office issued a High Surf Advisory for Thursday and Friday of last week and specifically warned that conditions would be hazardous in and around the entrance channel through Saturday. But that wasn’t enough to keep this brave soul out of the water.
Reader Ian Gledhill sent the Outpost this video (above) taken from King Salmon of the surfer getting chewed up and spit out by one of the powerful waves.
