The Eureka Police Department is suspending false alarm billing for the month of March
and April in response to the ongoing COVID-19 Public Health Order. The waiving of
false alarm fees is another way the Eureka Police Department, in partnership with the
City of Eureka, is trying to offset the hardships felt by citizens and businesses.
Notification of a false alarm response will still be sent by mail; however, no charges will
be applied.
The Eureka Police Department wants to remind citizens that false alarms are costly to the
City, not only financially, but more importantly in misused manpower and resources.
Depending on the type of alarm, a single alarm can tie up two or more officers,
preventing them from serving other parts of the City.
