PREVIOUSLY: Dead Humpback Whale Found on Mad River Beach

Another deceased humpback whale has appeared on the North Coast, this time about three and a half miles north of Centerville Beach, according to a spokesperson for the North Coast Marine Mammal Center and Cal Poly Humboldt Marine Mammal Education & Research Program.

This is the second dead humpback whale to wash ashore on the North Coast in the past week.

The cause of death is currently unknown, but researchers with the university’s Marine Mammal Education & Research Program will be onsite today to take samples from the whale, the spokesperson told the Outpost this morning. We’ll update this post as more information becomes available.
