‘Trans Day of Remembrance’ Gathering at the Courthouse Today

Since 1999, Transgender Day of Remembrance has been observed annually on Nov. 20 to give space to remember and honor individuals who’ve lost their lives as a result of transphobic violence. 

Locally, members of Humboldt’s LGBTQ+ community and their supporters will gather for their own vigil Sunday 5 p.m. in front of the Humboldt County Courthouse. Candles will be provided. 

In advance of the gathering, the Eureka Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence — the event’s organizers — issued a release Sunday morning addressing last night’s mass shooting in Colorado Springs:
