THURSDAY LOWDOWN: Arcata Arts Institute Students Would Like to Teach You Something About WWI and They’re Prepared to Sing It For You
Not bad! We invite you to take a scroll down the ol’ Lowdown, where you’ll find an above average Thursday, in our Humboldt opinion.
One li’l but of human energy we’d like to highlight: Thursday night sees the opening of the annual Arcata Arts Institute production, which, this year, happens to be The Hello Girls. The musical tells the true story of women who took on the role of switchboard operators during World War I.
What’s it like to be a high schooler in 2026 and to attempt to portray pioneering women who lived over 100 years ago? Well, luckily AAI student Ilana Maclay dropped by KSLG last week to clue us all in. Listen to that exchange below and/or keep scrolling for full details on the show and other Thursday delights in your Lowdown listings farther down.
